Deadline: Neighborhood Ambassadors Application for the Democratic National Convention.

The Chicago 2024 Host Committee is looking for committed and enthusiastic individuals with a proven record of community service to serve as Neighborhood Ambassadors for the Democratic National Convention.
These ambassadors, made up of individuals who represent Chicago’s 77 community areas and some surrounding suburbs, will work with Host Committee staff to recruit the 12,000 volunteers needed to put on the Convention. The goal of the Neighborhood Ambassadors program is not solely to recruit volunteers, but to ensure all of Chicago’s residents have a voice in the planning process and can get involved in the events and activities surrounding the Convention. We are excited to identify leaders across the Chicagoland area who can mobilize and organize their neighbors and serve as a liaison to their communities. Applications are due February 9th, 2024.
In the course of their work, Neighborhood Ambassadors will be expected to:
– Recruit a minimum 50 volunteers from their respective community
– Communicate Host Committee updates, programs, and events to neighborhood partners
– Provide feedback to the Host Committee on community and neighborhood needs as it relates to the 2024 Democratic National Convention
Eligibility:
– Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
– Proven experience working as a leader in respective community
– Completed application, with accompanying written responses and references

FAQs
Is this a paid position? No, this is a volunteer position and chosen Ambassadors will be expected to sign a volunteer agreement with the Host Committee.
What are the incentives? All chosen Neighborhood Ambassadors will be included in a contest for the most recruited volunteers, which will include cash prizes and a credential to the Democratic National Convention. Additional incentives include priority volunteer assignments for the Democratic National Convention, an invitation to volunteer ambassador appreciation party pre-convention and volunteer appreciation party post-convention, relevant professional experience, and the opportunity to represent your neighborhood on a national stage.
How many neighborhood ambassadors will there be? 100 total. 77 for each Chicago community area, and an additional 23 ambassadors to help cover the surrounding suburbs.
I don’t live in the Chicagoland area, can I serve as an ambassador? No. This program is specifically for folks who live in Chicago or a nearby suburb. You can still sign up to volunteer with the Democratic National Convention at Chicago2024.com/volunteer
What is the time commitment? Varies, but likely 5-10 hours max per week. Neighborhood ambassadors will have the autonomy to determine outreach strategies within their respective communities. However, all Ambassadors must attend an initial orientation/training session, and a bi-weekly check-in.
Do I get a credential for the Convention? Some volunteer assignments include access to the Convention Hall. However, signing up to be an ambassador does not guarantee access to the Convention hall.
Can I nominate someone to serve as an ambassador? Ambassadors must sign and complete their own application to be considered.
